Experience The Magic of Live Theater
For 20 years, Boquete Community Players have brought live entertainment to Chiriqui with shows at The Rock and TapOut.
Bringing Stories to Life!
Community Theater nourishes the human spirit by engaging a diverse group of volunteers working together to create, problem solve, and produce a unique performance that captivates a multifaceted audience of friends and neighbors, students and retirees. The theater offers stories of joy and sorrow, conflict and harmony, hope and redemption, creating a one-of-a-kind human
experience impossible to replicate, as each performance forms a unique connection with its audience. Despite all the competition for people’s time, focus and energy in today’s electronic world, the human celebration of community theater continues to thrive!
The Future of BCP
With 20 years under our belt, we’ve seen a lot of changes! Starting out in nomadic style, with plays put on in various venues, the BCP Theater building came together with a LOT of community involvement in 2009. The Covid 19 Pandemic shut down the theater, and BCP again became nomadic, now delighted to have donations of performance space at both the Tent Theater at the Rock Restaurant, and the old theater room at Tapout as our Second Stage – for more experimental or intimate productions.
With continuing programs to train new actors, directors, writers, singers, dancers and backstage crew, BCP is actively seeking a permanent location, on track to again take our place as a major part of the Boquete, Chiriqui landscape.
Bilingual Theater, Theater Classes, School Outreach, Hosting Visiting Performance Companies
A long-held dream of BCP is to integrate Panamanian culture, talent and language into our productions.
We have hosted a production by local actors and director, and developed ‘Spanglish’ protocols for certain productions, so that both English and Spanish-speaking audiences can enjoy the show. Future goals include supertitles above the stage – so that the language spoken can be translated in real time – and creating original plays that present the story in both languages.
School outreach programs are in development, to introduce both English and Spanish students to theater, offering tools for individual expression to young audiences.
On April 11 and 12 step into the Steam-punk world of the industrial revolution at the Edgar Allen Poe Phantasmagoria – a celebration of the early spinner of spooky tales in a ‘cocktail hour’ like no other!

Then enjoy two weekends of variety fun at The New Olde Timey Not-Radio Show, featuring your old favorites as well as new talent who bring music, dance, comedy and a bit of drama to the Second Stage.
May 2, 3, 4, 9, 10 and 11

In June we showcase the Actors and Directors Workshop, in a collection of vignettes about luck called HAPPENSTANCE.
